Habits

Unwanted Habits

I think it is fair to say that we all have some bad habits. Some can be just little things and might not be any concerns, as they are inconsequential. However, some bad habits can be destructive, bring about to negative effects to our personality, interfere with daily life, overall well-being, and relationships.

For either good or bad habits, the main factor that creates and strengthens the habits is repetition. Habits are something we do repetitively.
For good habits, it can become skills; become something that we are good at, and we can master the skills by practise it over and over again. For example, playing music, sports, dance moves, etc. But, for bad habits, many things can become automatic without we even know that we have been doing them. For example: nail biting, nose picking, hair picking, swearing, procrastinating, overly watching TV, addiction to social media, addiction to fast food or sugary food, overeating, excessive drinking, smoking, etc.

All habits, no matter good or bad, are embedded into our subconscious mind. They are things that eventually we will do automatically without thinking. To deal with bad habits, the earlier, the better.

The best way to manage habits is to work with them through the subconscious mind, where it is rooted. This is why hypnosis works very well in eliminating bad habits and cultivating positive habits, through the subconscious mind. Hypnosis bypasses the critical part of the brain that kept telling you that ‘I can’t change’, ‘I’m stuck’, or ‘Nothing will help’.
