My Therapeutic Approaches
We all want to be happy and enjoy our lives. But, sometimes, for all sorts of reasons, that doesn’t happen. Lots of things can make us unhappy; it might be one huge event that knocks us out or it might be a series of smaller things that build up over time.
Before we even realise what is going on in our mind and whatever the cause is, we experience emotional and psychological difficulties that can leak and seep into every area of our lives and everything that we do.
If emotional and psychological imbalances haven’t been taken care of appropriately, they can bring about anxiety, depression and stress as well as cause unwanted behaviours and feelings such as over-eating, insomnia, anger, lack of energy, overthinking or worry, and can even lead to physical manifestations like pain.
You know what that unhappiness feels like to you and it will feel differently for everyone, but you know deep down that you want to feel better and you are looking for a way to make that happen.
- You want to feel happy again, to have energy and feel in control of your feelings.
- You want to feel calmer and more relaxed in any situation.
- You want to feel more able to cope in a more positive way.
- You want to see the positive in things, rather than the negative.
- You want to be able to let go of things that happen, worry less, be less stressed and say goodbye to any anxiety.
- You want to feel more resilient. You want to be able to bounce back, no matter what life throws at you.
It’s not that much to ask, is it? But you’ve probably tried things to help, self help books, YouTube videos, spoken to friends and family, maybe you’ve tried another type of therapy. You’ve tried things, maybe they have worked for a while, maybe they’ve not helped at all, so you’re wondering what to try next or maybe you’re wondering if you have to feel like this forever.
I am here to help. I offer a unique mix of therapies to help you feel better and shed those negative thoughts. We will work together to help you transform those thoughts, so you start to see those transformations in how you feel. Support you to feel mentally stronger and calmer.
How does it work? Our first session will be an initial consultation where we talk about how you’re feeling and I can ask you questions that will help me tailor the therapy plan just for you. Then we work together further to help you make those changes you want to make.
Would like to know more? I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation if you have any questions or you can get in touch when you’re ready to book your sessions by clicking here.

Theory and practice in positive psychology focus on promoting well-being by encouraging positive thoughts and behaviours, creating an understanding of one’s strengths. It also utilises one’s resources in order to maximise the potential for subjective success and happiness in one’s life. Positive psychological interventions are based on the theory that positive emotions can undo negative emotions and support people to broaden their mind and build up their ability to effectively overcome difficulties and to flourish.
In our sessions, I will bring in positive psychological exercises that can support you in your situation, and facilitate you to apply them in your daily life. The continual practice will improve your emotional well-being and support you to obtain and sustain a healthy state of mind.
Hypnotherapy is a type of complementary medicine in which hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention and increased suggestibility during which positive suggestions and guided imagery are used to help individuals deal with a variety of concerns and issues.
Hypnotherapy presents positive suggestions to your mind while you are experiencing trance (an altered state of mind or deep relaxation) in order to bring about subconscious changes to your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. When we are in trance, learning and openness to changes are most likely to occur. This state allows you to absorb beneficial suggestions to your subconscious mind, which acts as a controller of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The given hypnotherapeutic suggestions are constructive and will reinforce you to utilise your inner resources to help you overcome your issues or change your behaviours from the subconscious level. Furthermore, hypnotherapy can enable you to perceive something differently, such as shifting your awareness to reduce pain or to focus on positives. It also allows you to explore and manage your underlying thoughts, feelings and memories that might have hidden from your conscious mind, which could be the cause of emotional issues you are experiencing.
Hypnotherapy can be used to treat various conditions such as anxiety, phobias, substance abuse including tobacco, undesirable spontaneous behaviors, and bad habits. It can also be used to help improve sleep, learning disorders, communication, and relationship issues.
I apply hypnotherapy to help you lessen and change unwanted thoughts, overcome unwanted feelings and behaviours. Hypnotherapy can resolve the underlying causes that have been hidden in your subconscious mind. It will also cultivate positive thoughts, feelings and behaviour, which will support you to achieve your goals.
Psychotherapeutic Counselling & Psychotherapy
Psychotherapeutic counselling and psychotherapy are sometimes called talking therapies. However, they are not only about talking. They are a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space for you to process your thoughts and emotions. Counselling and psychotherapy focus on the underlying causes of the issues, and helps you to explore and understand more about yourself. The aim is to work together to understand what has happened to you, not what is wrong with you. Then, allow you time and space to clear your mind and organise your thoughts to search for your own solutions and your goals, as well as to find healthier ways to cope with emotions and feelings. My role in our sessions is supporting you through the process.
Mindfulness is the practice of being in present, bringing your awareness to “here and now”. The practice of mindfulness will increase your awareness of the present moment, therefore allowing you to let go of the past and be peaceful with the future. Mindfulness helps with various emotional issues such as stress, anger, anxiety and depression because such emotions tend to stem from the negative thoughts of the past and the future (‘what happened’ or ‘what may happen’).
As I guide you through the various techniques of mindfulness, you will be able to implement it into your daily life. You will create a mindful life-style that will maintain and allow you to take care of your own emotional well-being in the long term.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a practice-based therapy that help you to focus on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour. These elements affect one another and therefore influence how you react with situations in your life.
As we work together, you will realise and be aware of your thought patterns and beliefs that may cause your unwanted feelings and actions. Hence, it will allow you to manage and lessen such thoughts and beliefs to alleviate your unwanted feelings and behaviours. Together, we will develop coping strategies for you to cope with your thoughts and behavioural patterns.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is the study of subjective experience and the behavioural patterns learned through the experience. It allows you to understand how your experiences have been affecting you and understand the process in your brain, how you communicate to yourself and to others. The better understanding of the process in ourselves, the better able we are to communicate with ourselves as well as communicate our needs to others. This helps creating positive communication to improve our thought process and behavioural patterns as well as establish positive relationship with ourselves and other around us. It is a powerful technique to create change.
Life coaching focuses on optimising the present and moving on to the future. It is a goal-oriented method that will help you to attain what you want in life. This may include, for example, lifestyle change, well-balanced routine, and systematic decision making. We will focus on harmonising different areas of life including career, relationship, achievement, as well as meaning and purposes to enhance your well-being and happiness.
